Question: how does AI benefit other industries and the wider world

I work in Meteorology and AI models that predict weather are quite popular as of late. They perform pretty well in predicting the weather, sometimes better than traditional models that are based on predicting fluid motions with equations. I like to think of AI as a tool in my discipline, it can help improve models but it would not exist without the traditional models that produce the data that machine-learning models are trained on.
