      I work in Meteorology and AI models that predict weather are quite popular as of late. They perform pretty well in predicting the weather, sometimes better than traditional models that are based on predicting fluid motions with equations. I like to think of AI as a tool in my discipline, it can help improve models but it would not exist without the traditional models that produce the data that machine-learning models are trained on.

      I work in cyber so traditional AI has often been used in detecting cyber attacks in a system. They do this by taking large amounts of data and making patterns with them such as seeing what time you usually login, how many times you get your password wrong, your location and checking if any of it seems suspicious e.g. an office worker who normally works 9-5 in England logging in at 10PM in Germany that same day a red flag!
